Does Aetna Cover Drug & Substance Abuse Rehabilitation?

Aetna has many programs to identify at-risk individuals for drug or substance abuse as it relates to opioid addiction. If a member or family member of an Aetna insured patient does develop an addiction, the insurance company works with rehabilitation centers to promote evidence-based approaches to combat substance use disorders. In previous years drug and alcohol rehab was a 28 day program, but this has evolved to coverage for both inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment.

Addiction is a disease that requires ongoing support with the guidance of a treatment facility that can help fast. In some cases a person may relapse. Relapse is not a personal or treatment failure, and relapse does not require starting over from the beginning.
