Our Treatment Philosophy

NuLife Recovery founder and CEO, J.D.Meints, shares his inspiring story of recovery and how his passion for recovery turned into his vision he made into reality. NuLife Recovery, where lasting recovery begins.

Evidence-Based Treatment

When we made the decision to open the finest treatment facility possible, we researched what others in the field were doing and where there were successes. We did this because we knew that our sole passion was to help people just like you get their lives back from the disease of addiction. Our research started with well known evidence-based psychological methods of treatment that have proven to be successful in treating addiction, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Somatic Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Therapy

What we found out was that having all of these therapies available for each of you as individuals based upon your assessment increased the chances of success for lasting recovery.

Holistic Therapy

We then looked at what other therapies have been used in the treatment of addiction, this lead us to study the effectiveness of Holistic therapies. Since Addiction is a complex disease it affects a person’s, mind, body, and spirit, creating a fracturing of yourself. Our research showed that unless we could help reconnect the pathways to mind, body and spirit successful treatment would be much more difficult to achieve.

Holistic Therapies were the answer to creating these new pathways to mind. Body and spirit. This is why we feel that they are an integral part of our philosophy and they include:

  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Art Therapy
  • Massage Therapy
  • Equine Therapy

Connecting Mind, Body, and spirit back to one’s self so that whole healing can begin.

Experiential Therapy

Our research took us to Experiential therapy as we knew that it was crucial for you to be able to identify your emotions that have been kept within you because of the disease of addiction. These emotions range from disappointment, lack of responsibility and self-esteem, causing the negative feelings of anger, hurt and shame. Experiential therapies involve role-playing such as:

  • Psychodrama
  • Art therapy
  • Music Therapy
  • Structured Recreational Activites
  • Physical Fitness
  • Nature Therapy
  • Guided Imagery Therapy

By using some of these experiential methods we found that people became better able to deal with their past and look forward to their future without carrying the guilt and shame of what the disease brings to you, your family and your loved ones.
