Social Media and Alcohol Addiction Linked in New Study

A recent study conducted by the University of Albany-SUNY called "Craving Facebook" Behavioral addiction to online social networking and its association with emotion regulation deficits has found a link between social media and alcohol addiction. While many have posed the concept of social media addiction in recent months, this tie between use of social media and substance addiction may be the first of its kind. The study of 300 students found that "disordered social networking use seems to arise as part of a cluster of symptoms of poor emotion regulation skills and heightened susceptibility to both substance and non-substance addiction."
